Some aspects of criminal law and forensic science regarding human trafficking
Abstract
"Trafficking in human beings constitutes a complex criminal offense that involves the following stages: recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of human beings for the purpose of exploiting them. The essential element of the human trafficking process is the exploitation of individuals in conditions that seriously affect their fundamental human rights and freedoms. To meet the requirements for the offense of trafficking in persons, it is not important whether the traffickers actually carried out the intended exploitation of the victim.
Crimes related to trafficking in human beings often have a cross-border character, requiring evidence to be obtained from the territorial jurisdictions of several states. This necessitates the use of special techniques in criminal investigation, international cooperation, and requests for mutual assistance.
The investigation process of trafficking in human beings must prioritize the respect of the rights and needs of victims. Investigators in the field of trafficking in human beings must continually adapt to new challenges related to combating human trafficking by developing new methods, techniques, and investigative procedures."
